big little or just right?

finding the degree of an angle given to you on a sheet can be so tricky
hint: expand the lines with a ruler before you measure to get a better look at the angel

acute angle: less than 90 degrees
right angle: 90 degree angle
obtuse angle: more than 90 degrees

always check to see which way the angle is going, if it is not mark ask somebody. the way the angle goes can change what appears to be a n acute angle into an obtuse triangle fast. though usually an obtuse angle is less than 180 it can appear just in a different direction.

Mean , Median, and Mode.
what are they?
Mean- all data added together and divided by number of participants or points
Mode- most common number
Median-middle number in data

this topic is rather common in society, but we do not always realize it.

teachers use it for grading and for class averages
jobs use these math tips to order shoe sizes, board sizes, ect
if we do not know these numbers the effects can show, we can not buy the right things like the right shoes and not have the right stock
and grades would be a mess and students would not know what they will have in the class and what they need to work on in order to pass their class

mode-56, because there is two 56 test scores
median-75 because lining them up least to greatest 75 is the middle number
mean-72.4 because adding them all up and divide by 5

Graphing and more graphing



i was confused with the names of the graphs at first, used to only what the office tools named them and what i was told by other students. now learning the different types i know what type of graph to use in which situation.
a pie chart is used more if your talking about a whole and breaking things down
a bar graph is used in statistical data
a Line Graph is used to see trends in your data.

if i was talking about how much of my budget i spend on each category, which would i choose?
a pie graph of course

if i was talking about average age groups of the students in the class i would use?
a line graph.

if i needed to see how many vegetables of each kind i got i would use?
bar graph

the number one thing to always check is your data type to make sure your using the correct type of chart
secondly always ALWAYS make sure you label your graphs properly.

Helpful tips

Movement?

This was quite interesting to say the least and quite confusing to start with a way to teach about reflections, translations, and rotations. the beginning is quite easy to say is the object staying the same size and shape, if not your in the wrong spot
if your problem looks like dilation it is a different part of math that i will not cover. 
translation the movement of a shape left or right, up or down, or left and down, ect
rotation is an object turned a certain degree such as turned 90 degrees as in the picture above, 180 or 270 degrees. done be confused an object can be turned in either  clockwise or counterclockwise
last but not the least confusing reflection, an object that is "flipped over the mirror line, not symmetry.  and looks the same but in reversed over the mirror line.

Covering Up

Surface Area is a conduct we learned from area, just building the structure to our demand and now we are covering said structures. the first thing we need to know is what the surface area is in order to know how much covering we will need in order to complete the task, and in order to get the surface area we need something else.



Above we have one way in which we can formulate the surface area, but as we have learned there is more than one way to figure things out. instead of figuring out the whole shape at once we can break down the 3 dimensional images into simple shapes. a pyramid can be broken down into the triangles and the base. a prism into the bases and rectangles.

i personally struggle with the formulas in this subject, more letters to fit into the formula and more complicated math. though the longer way of breaking down the polyhedrons into simple shapes makes for more calculations. decide which way is best for you

Probability and Odds

This is late but having stuff on paper about blogging is different then having it online.
learning about the differences between probability and odds is a rather confusing task. we learning about how probability is the number of the possibilities wanted to be known over the total number of possibilities. spending so much time throughout schooling looking for the probability for or against an outcome has put quite a damper on what is the odds in favor or against a certain outcome.

Definitions required:

Probability: Is the amount of successes divided by the total.

BASIC PROBABILITY

Odds in Favor: Is the amount of successes divided by the amount of failures.

Odds Against: Is the amount of failures divided by the amount of successes.


Examples:

What is the Probability of drawing a red marble from the following bag?
5 red, 7 green, 3 blue, 2 Green, and 8 purple

so its (number of RED marbles/ Total Number of Marbles)

you need the total amount of marbles added up
5+7+3+2+8= 25 marbles

then the number or RED marbles=5

Answer 5/25 or percentage 25% chance of getting a red marble

Odds in Favor:

what are the odds in favor of drawing a Green Marble from previous bag of marbles?
 so (How many GREEN marbles: how many marbles minus Green Marbles)
2 Green Marbles : 23 other Marbles
2:23 odds in favor of drawing a green
odds against green is reversed
(Number of marbles minus green: number of green marbles)
23:2

what are the odds AGAINST a purple marble?

(number of marbles minus purple marbles: Number of Purple Marbles)

it can be quite a challenge, but always read the question carefully for what is being asked for and check your math
